Claude, ChatGPT and Gemini usage limits by plan
For chat, none of the three gives a message count. They publish multipliers, ranges and time windows instead: Claude Max is 5 or 20 times Pro per session, Google AI Ultra 5 or 20 times AI Pro, and ChatGPT Pro drops the five-hour window in Codex and Work. Here they are side by side.

Which plan, by provider
- ClaudePro or Max: the session multiplier, Fable access, and one limit for chat and Claude Code.Pro or Max?
- ChatGPTPlus or Pro: the five-hour Codex window, three Pro tiers without a stated multiple, and Swiss franc prices.Plus or Pro?
- GeminiAI Pro or Ultra: the 1M-token window, compute-based limits, and credits that do not lift the chat limit.AI Pro or Ultra?
Did the model get weaker, or did the plan get smaller?
When answers feel worse or the limit arrives sooner, two different things can be behind it. The model can perform worse than it did at launch, or the plan can give you less of it.
The second one shows up in the providers' own pages. On 29 September 2026 OpenAI reopened ChatGPT Pro 200 at the same $200, with a smaller allowance for new subscribers. Name and price stayed, the plan shrank.
The first one needs the same tests run again and again. BridgeMind publishes a board for each question:

- Usage BenchTracks whether a plan still gives as much usage as at its first measurement, for the five-hour and the weekly window.bridgebench.ai/usage-bench
Questions
- Which AI subscription gives the most usage?
- Claude Max 20x promises 20 times Pro per session, Google AI Ultra 20x 20 times AI Pro, and ChatGPT Pro 500 the most of OpenAI's Pro tiers without a stated multiple. None of the three gives a chat message count, so compare multipliers within one provider, not across them.
- Do I pay in Swiss francs?
- For ChatGPT and Google, yes: both show CHF prices in Switzerland, ChatGPT Plus CHF 20 and Google AI Pro CHF 17. Claude's pricing page shows US dollars from Switzerland, before tax.
- Do the limits change?
- Yes, sometimes without a new plan name. All three providers reserve the right to change limits, and OpenAI cut the allowance of new Pro 200 subscriptions in September 2026 at the same price.
- Which subscription is best for coding?
- The one whose coding agent you use: Claude Code comes with Claude Pro and Max, Codex with ChatGPT Plus and Pro, Jules and Antigravity with Google AI Pro and Ultra. Which model codes best right now is on the coding leaderboard.
- Why does the limit hit sooner on some days?
- Claude and Gemini meter by effort, not by message: longer chats, attached files, more advanced models and higher thinking levels cost more of the same allowance. Claude also counts chat and Claude Code against one pool.
